"Statement Claim of William Harris dec.d of
By the deposition of Wm. A. Rob-
inson, it appears that this slave
was with the British in July 1814 and
was active in the aid he game them
in their work of plunder and wasting
and this deposition of Benj. Robin-
son is to the same effect. A
slave of so useful abilities was
not likely to want employ-
ment under his new masters.
And accordingly it appears by
the deposition of Thomas W.
Harris that he was known +
reported to have been an officer
among their troops [] no doubt +
to have assisted them in setting fire
to the Court House. Such an offi -"
